It’s been a season of misery and torment for Newcastle United fans so far, but thanks to Callum Wilson, they finally have a win to celebrate.

The forward scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle fought past Sean Dyche and Burnley for a 1-0 win at St James’ Park. The goal came just before half time, setting up a tense second half as Eddie Howe’s men who tried to defend their lead.

The win moves them off the bottom of the table on goal difference, with Norwich’s game in hand being against Spurs later today. There was one man on the lips of most Toon fans after the performance, Jamal Lewis.

The young full-back has made quite the impression since replacing Matt Ritchie on the left of the defence, leaving the Magpies purring.

“I’m so happy for Jamal Lewis. The fact Liverpool also wanted him was good enough to show me he was always going to be good enough. Just needed to be given a chance and some coaching #nufc.” @JustinTerrett

“Steve Bruce completely gave up on Jamal Lewis. Matt Ritchie has played out of position ahead of him and really struggled at times. Lewis looked comfortable in the last two games. Maybe Bruce was the problem?” @AlanColeman86

Nice easy one to start off with, which club did Newcastle United sign Shearer from in 1996?

Clearly the change of management has helped some of the players start to find their potential, with the atmosphere around the club lifting, aided by the win of course.

After such a vital win and performance, the Toon Army will be expecting the upturn in performances to continue under Howe’s leadership, and Lewis coming back into the picture is a prime example of that.
