Lots of Newcastle United fans have been drawn to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest list of names to be linked with a potential transfer to Tyneside.
We are a matter of weeks away from the January transfer window opening, which will provide the Toon with one last opportunity to make deals ahead of the second half of the campaign.
And what a huge window it could be for the Magpies under their new ownership and management but their mission to remain a Premier League side come May remains the same.
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, the Newcastle board have held their latest transfer meeting, and some of the names discussed included Lloyd Kelly, Matthias Ginter, Joe Rodon, Sven Botman and Mohamed Elneny.
Do you expect NUFC to spend more than £50m in Jan?
Yes
No
As the latest batch of names were revealed, Toon fans were drawn to Twitter to share their thoughts.
What did these Newcastle fans have to say?
“This is massively underwhelming”
Ginter and Botman are the only two players on that list who have played regular first-team football in their respective top-flight sides, as Rodon and Elneny remain irregular features at their north London clubs.
Kelly has played a lot of football already for Bournemouth this season, however, despite flying high in the Championship, it is apparent targetting a lower division name will not inspire many of these fans.
Although these names may seem more realistic as targets for a struggling side, it’s no surprise these fans are underwhelmed given they have been recently linked with players like Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
