Many Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news from Eddie Howe regarding injuries to two of the team’s key players.
Newcastle managed to pick up a draw against Manchester United last night, their first point since the start of the month, in a battling display that could give them the confidence boost that they need as they look to continue their battle against relegation.
However, despite the positivity of the result, it was somewhat offset by some injuries that the team picked up along the way.
Both Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson were forced to leave the game early last night with injuries, and after the game, Howe revealed that both had picked up significant knocks, saying: “When Callum went down it looked a bad one because nobody was around him. He felt he’d been kicked but we didn’t see it. Allan, I don’t think is as serious but serious enough to bring him off.”
News of their injuries and their potential layoff times were relayed by injury analyst Ben Dinnery on Twitter, and it led to a number of despondent Newcastle fans, many of them feeling incredibly pessimistic:
“Gutted for them both, under Ashley this would be catastrophic but with these new owners they will throw money at it to protect their investment”
Do Newcastle need to sign a striker?
Yes!
No!
As the club’s two highest scorers this season, it’s going to be difficult for them to put up a decent fight without them in the side, so you can understand the fans’ reactions.
And with January right around the corner, this news might spark the club into even more action than they were perhaps planning to.
