A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight at the latest update to emerge from the Tyneside club ahead of their next Premier League clash.
On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed the Magpies’ scheduled trip to Merseyside for Thursday had been postponed due to a build-up of positive virus results and injuries.
Is this the right decision not to play?
Yes
No
The Toon were set to face Everton on the back of their 1-1 draw on Monday night against Manchester United, with the gap to safety reduced to just two points.
However, the game against the Red Devils saw both Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin withdrawn due to injuries, and as the postponement was announced, these fans shared their thoughts.
What did these Newcastle fans have to say?
“Good decision and a much needed one – you know something is wrong when all of a sudden, two goalkeeper’s are named on the bench. We’ve also been hit hard with injuries which doesn’t help either. I’m willing to sacrifice a week or two without Howe ball. “
Wilson and Saint-Maximin have played a big role in the goals Newcastle have scored this season, with a combined 10 goals and three assists between them in the league.
So it is little surprise to see these fans delighted they will not be playing without the duo on Thursday considering they have scored over half of the Toon’s league goals this campaign.
