A lot of Newcastle United fans have flooded to Twitter to vent their anger at the display of Ciaran Clark in their Premier League defeat on Sunday.

The 32-year-old defender started the game on Tyneside but could not have possibly gotten off to a worse start than what he did with Manchester City taking the lead just minutes into the game.

Should Clark be sold in January?

No

No

A mix up between the centre-back and the goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka, allowed Ruben Dias to have a free header on goal to provide the free-scoring City with an early lead.

With the Toon going into the game scrapping for any point in which they can get, these fans were clearly far from impressed by Clark’s involvement in the opening goal.

What did these fans have to say?

“Clark is an embarrassment”

“Clark should be nowhere near the team. Disappointed Howe has picked him”
“Ciaran Clark should never play for our club again. Said it after Norwich and saying it again 5 minutes into this one. Absolute liability”
“Ciaran Clark is literally the worst footballer I’ve ever seen at this club ever”
“Clark should be first one out come January. He’s terrible.”
“Clark is an absolute embarrassment! He’s stealing a paycheck!! Just leave now!”
“Ciaran Clark with a huge mistake that leads us to concede after five minutes, terminate his contract man”
“Can we give Ciaran Clark back to Aston Villa, for free? Absolutely woeful.”

Clark has not exactly had the best of weeks at St. James’ Park given the game against City was his first back after being shown a red card against Norwich City last month (via Transfermarkt).

With the January transfer window just a matter of days away now, it seems these fans would not be upset to see the back of the defender who has 36 caps for his country.
