A number of Newcastle United fans have expressed their delight online after hearing that Premier League clubs are close to agreeing a deal that should allow their club to receive investment from Saudi Arabia.
Indeed, as reported by The Telegraph, the 20 league teams will meet in the coming weeks to approve the new rules for ‘related-party transactions’.
Essentially, if it is approved, it will mean the Saudi-led consortium in charge of Newcastle can agree major endorsement deals. This would open the door to a potential new naming rights partner for St. James’ Park.
The article was shared on Twitter by journalist Sam Wallace and it quickly caught the eye of many interested and enthused Magpies supporters online.
Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…
“Here we go!!!! New sponsors incoming…..”
“Excellent. Good to see we can match the highest paid deals in the league and there’s nothing that can be done about it.”
“Whoop whoop, bring on January.”
Will Newcastle survive relegation under Eddie Howe?
Yes
No
It’s clear to see just how excited these fans are by the latest news. Much has been made about the potential impact of the club’s new owners, but it’s still far too early to know how it will all play out.
This new agreement, should it happen, could be a key step for the Magpies as they aim to become one of the league’s biggest and best teams.
