A number of Newcastle United fans have been left angered after watching Joe Willock’s recent display against Manchester City.

In the latest round of Premier League fixtures, the Magpies were comprehensively beaten 4-0 at home. The former Arsenal man started the game but was dragged off at halftime by manager Eddie Howe and replaced by Allan Saint-Maximin.

While on the pitch, it could be argued that Willock was at fault for City’s second goal of the game, as he did little to stop Joao Cancelo from skipping past him in midfield before the defender fired home from long range.

The display was noted by many Newcastle fans who were keen to express their displeasure towards the performance with plenty of sharp comments online.

Here’s what these Newcastle fans said

“Said it before, I’ll say it again, Joe Willock is a championship player. Well done to Arsenal for getting £25m for him!”
“Isaac Hayden and Joe Willock get out of my club you absolute imposters. 2 goals gifted #NUFC @ghodoussi we need a new squad ASAP not being cheeky like but this is shocking.”
“STOP PLAYING JOE WILLOCK. The lack of effort the lad puts in is embarrassing.”
“Joe Willock is shocking. Belongs in the reserves.”
“Joe Willock is diabolical. Fish out of water here.”
“Joe Willock wouldn’t get a game for Blyth Spartans.”
To back up the reaction of these supporters, in the BBC match report of the game, Willock also scored poorly in the player ratings section, being given just a 3.80.

Newcastle PL appearances quiz! This man is the all-time top Premier League appearance maker for Newcastle, but how many did he make?

After scoring eight goals in 14 league appearances last season as a loanee, the midfielder has yet to score for his side in the Premier League this term (having played 16 times). No doubt that drop off in form will have played a part in the frustration these fans have for him.
