George Caulkin has been speaking on the latest Pod on the Tyne podcast about the feeling inside Newcastle United’s dressing room.

It would not be a surprise if Newcastle’s fans and their players do feel dispirited and dejected at this time of the season as they could very easily enter 2022 having won just one Premier League game all season, but they only find themselves three points from safety and have the January transfer window on the horizon, which may well brighten their spirits.

Will Newcastle be relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Something else that will certainly make fans feel more positive about their chances of staying up is that the players themselves do not seemingly believe they’re beaten and can still avoid the drop, despite their precarious position in the league table.

Caulkin has revealed what the players are feeling inside Newcastle’s dressing room.

“The one good thing is that it sounds to me that within the dressing room, people are still positive, there is that feeling that they have enough, that with a few additions that they’ll still get out. I don’t think there’s any mutterings at all of disquiet within the place and that’s encouraging.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s chances of avoiding the drop…

There is no denying that Newcastle have been atrocious this season and the first goal they conceded against Manchester City probably sums up their entire campaign, but after they face Manchester United next week, they will then have a much more favourable run of fixtures which includes Everton, Southampton and Watford.

Some much more winnable fixtures accompanied with some potentially new signings could be what the Magpies require to finally get their season kickstarted, and if reports are to be believed that they are targeting the likes of Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman, they could certainly climb up the table relatively quickly as those two would likely improve an incredibly leaky defence, given the experience they have at the top level.
