Duncan Castles has been speaking on The Transfer Window podcast about the issue between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool when it comes to contract talks.

Salah has been experiencing a magnificent season for Liverpool across all competitions having already netted 22 times, but that does not appear to have done anything to help convince the Reds he deserves to have his contractual demands met.

Will Salah leave Liverpool this summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Egyptian winger has been a revelation at Anfield having scored a very impressive 147 goals since 2017, but he is now in the final 18 months of his current deal, and despite both Salah and Jurgen Klopp saying they want the winger to stay, his future could be out of their control.

Speaking alongside co-host Ian McGarry, Castles talked about the big stumbling block facing FSG when it comes to Salah’s new contract.

“You mentioned Mo Salah and Klopp saying there’s no complication – there is a big complication there in that Salah wants the highest salary that Liverpool have ever paid, and is pushing hard to get that. The question is whether FSG will relent and provide something to Salah that’s acceptable to him.”

TIF Thoughts on Salah…

Given how incredible Salah has been for Liverpool and how he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, it would make sense if FSG and Liverpool went all-out to keep him at Anfield, but with the winger set to be 30 years old when the next season kicks off, they may well be thinking about a new contract offer from a business perspective.

The Independent has claimed that the winger is demanding between £300,000 and £380,000 per week to sign a new deal at Anfield, which would make him their highest-paid player of all time, and for someone who is entering the twilight years of his career, it may make more sense to give someone such as Diogo Jota a potentially bigger role given his age and ability to grow and develop further.
