Speaking on the All Leeds TV YouTube channel, presenter Scott Wilson has been revealing some information he has gathered on the future of Raphinha at Elland Road.

Reports had surfaced over the festive period suggesting the 25-year-old could be heading for a potential exit from the Yorkshire side, with Bayern Munich said to be interested.

Do you expect Raphinha to sign a new deal?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, the Leeds fan channel was able to provide some promising claims on the long-term future of the Brazilian winger, with a potential new contract on the cards.

Raphinha still has over two years remaining on his current deal with the Whites, however, with his impressive season and a half under Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds may wish to reward him with an improved wage.

And after a summer of speculation linking the winger with a potential move to Premier League rivals Liverpool, Wilson had the following to say on a possible new deal:

“Yes, we are in talks with Raphinha at the minute to sign a new deal. He’s in talks to sign a new deal, an extended contract. From what we have been given, from what we have been told, there’s not a lot of clubs that would be able to afford our asking price – whatever that is, but it’s obviously more than £50m. And there’s not a lot of clubs that would meet his demands to be playing every week.”

TIF Thoughts on a new contract for Raphinha at Leeds United…

If Leeds are able to tie Raphinha down to a new deal, we think this would be a huge boost for the Whites going forward as they look to beat the drop this season.

However, it is a big if. We think the possibility of a new deal would depend on whether the Brazilian is hoping to leave Leeds in the summer or the near future as a new deal could inflate his price tag beyond the reach of his potential suitors.

And on that note, even if he was to sign a new deal, it may not necessarily mean he will be staying, as it could well be used as a ploy for the Whites to achieve a higher figure for their star man if he was to leave.
