A collection of Leeds United fans have been left annoyed with club majority owner Andrea Radrizzani after he had a Twitter exchange with respected journalist Phil Hay.

The Athletic writer had shared an article in which he explained that minority shareholders 49ers Enterprises have the option to pay £400m to buy the club outright before a deadline in January 2024.

Hay claimed the information “indicates a succession plan is in place for ownership to pass from majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani”.

Clearly not happy with the message sent out by the story, the Italian businessman took to Twitter to challenge what had been written.

He said he expected more from ‘someone as good’ as Hay, before stating:  “We are only focused on working together and growing Leeds United. Anything can happen between now and 2 years’ time (when many may have forgotten the article!).”

With the response coming online for everyone to see, it didn’t take long before many Leeds fans were quickly sharing their own comments on the matter.

Are Leed in big relegation trouble now Kalvin Phillips is injured?

Here’s what these Leeds fans said…

“Someone take his phone off him.”
“Such a cry baby.”
“I never know how to feel when Radz tweets like this. Just a bit odd…”
“Why is he pure rattled over nothing? Quite embarrassing.”
“Oh my days. This could get sticky.”
“Triggered… Again.”
The exchange comes after The Athletic had initially revealed that an investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers has a deal in place to buy 100% of Leeds for around £400m.
If that is true – and Radrizzani certainly doesn’t deny it – the Italian could be set to land a tidy profit. After all, he bought the Yorkshire side for £45m in 2017 and has overseen their rise from the Championship into Premier League football.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Regardless of all that, it seems as if these fans are not so happy with their majority owner spending his time criticising respected journalists on social media. However, they may only have to put up with any more of it for a few years, if the club is indeed sold.
