Leeds United entertain Brentford today in a game of huge importance for both sides. After Burnley’s defeat at Newcastle, it means Leeds can put some more distance between themselves and the bottom three.

It’s been a difficult season so far for Leeds, suffering potentially from the dreaded ‘second season syndrome’ after their impressive return to the top table of English football last season. Sitting 16th in the table, the results need to pick up quickly for the Yorkshire club. They’re only five points clear of the drop as things stand.

The early signs don’t read well for Marcelo Bielsa, with fans disappointed at his team selection, especially his decision to play Tyler Roberts.

“What a surprise – Tyler – God knows what he does in training but he’s not good enough for this leagueL.” @ChatLUFC

“When you celebrate Aying being back and then see Roberts is starting…” @IndeannaJacobs

“Tyler Roberts starting in front of a 30 million pound Spanish international blows my mind!” @BenCh1ld

“A 3% Bamford contributes more than a 100% Roberts.” @LufcHutchy

“If Ayling’s fit enough to walk back in so should Bamford, Roberts is shocking.” @Lufcburny

First up in this 2020/21 LUFC quiz, which of these players did NOT score against Liverpool in the 4-3 defeat at Anfield?

There’s no doubting how much the Leeds fans love Bielsa for everything he’s done. I can’t imagine for a minute they’re considering wanting him gone, but tensions are clearly building.

The poor start to the season is putting pressure on the fans and players alike, with supporters not hiding their disagreement with the team news. If Leeds can get the win, they’ll then go eight points clear of the drop zone and give themselves that bit of breathing space they’re desperate for.
