Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential swoop in the January transfer market.
Defending has become a problem for Leeds United this season, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men having conceded 36 goals so far this season – the second-most in the entire division – including 14 in their last three games alone.
It’s no wonder, then, that the club might be on the lookout for some new recruits to strengthen the backline, and according to a reports in the Brazilian press (via The Boot Room), Leeds have submitted a £20m bid for Atletico Mineiro left-back Guilherme Arana.
Leeds have already splashed out on a left-back this past summer when they brought in Junior Firpo from Barcelona, so perhaps this is an indicator that the 25-year-old hasn’t done enough to impress Bielsa during his time at Elland Road.
The news of their interest was relayed to fans by @leeds_utd_news on Twitter for them to react to, where it generated some interesting responses:
“This guy turns into an absolute top player on football manager! Had him in a save where I ended up at Barcelona and he was my first choice left back. Could be a be an amazing signing”
Will Leeds stay up this season?
With a few days to go until the January transfer window opens, there’s still time for Leeds to improve themselves defensively on the pitch, so they might not need him in the end, but this certainly should be an interesting story to follow.
