Journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk to discuss Leeds United’s interest in Ben Brereton Diaz.

The Blackburn Rovers striker has made an impressive start to the campaign, with 16 goals in the 20 appearances he has made in the Championship so far.

Would you like to see Brereton Diaz sign in January?

And it’s not just Blackburn the 22-year-old has shone for, as since switching allegiances to Chile, Brereton Diaz has gone on to score twice in his last three games for the South Americans, having starred at the Copa America in the summer.

Reports have suggested the Whites may face heavy competition from around Europe, with La Liga side Sevilla also said to be interested along with a host of other Premier League sides.

With Leeds being hit hard by injury issues already this season, Jones discussed their interest in the 22-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

“Leeds, what I’m told, is a club that really are taking this seriously and looking to see how this situation plays out. And in January, perhaps we could see Leeds going for him.

“They’re looking to add some new life to their frontline and to their side just generally to give them a new impetus for the season as we kick on into the second half.”

TIF Thoughts on Brereton Diaz to Leeds…

Leeds have clearly struggled for goals in the absence of Patrick Bamford so far this season and have proven heavily reliant on Raphinha, who leads their goalscoring tally.

Without Bamford, Marcelo Bielsa does not have a senior striker available who he can rely on to step up, with Rodrigo having only scored twice in the league this season.

Bamford has now stepped up his return to on-field action, which does make us question whether Brereton Diaz would be willing to leave Blackburn in January after such an impressive start if he was to sit on the bench for the England striker.
