Compared to previous years, it was a very quiet transfer window for Everton this summer, with Rafael Benitez being handed a transfer budget of £1.8 million, although he did still manage to bring in five new players.
Over the last five seasons, Everton have spent – and in some cases wasted – £450 million on transfer fees alone, but that kind of investment has not done them any favours as they have not reached Europe since the 2017/18 season.
