Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how long Rafael Benitez could last at Everton.

The Toffees fell to yet another defeat on Sunday afternoon and that made it just one win in their previous 10 league matches, with that sole victory coming in the final seconds via a late and dramatic Demarai Gray strike last Monday.

Should Everton sack Benitez?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Benitez had to endure a chorus of boos from some Everton fans against Crystal Palace when he substituted Richarlison off, even though the striker was injured, according to the Spaniard.

Some Everton fans never took to Benitez when he was first appointed and nothing appears to be changing, so O’Keeffe has questioned how long Benitez’s job can remain safe.

O’Keeffe is unsure if Benitez will even make it to the new year…

“I’ve just seen a form table before we jumped on this podcast of the last nine games, and we are rock-bottom of the table, so it’s not good at all; it might not get any better with Chelsea. I don’t know what Benitez does until he gets to January. I’m not sure if he’ll get to January.”

TIF Thoughts on Benitez’s position as manager…

Benitez has basically had to manage Everton with one arm tied behind his back given the number of injuries he’s had to endure as well as having the least amount of money to spend of any other Everton manager in recent history, mainly because of the owner’s previous recklessness in the transfer market and that other managers before him have brought in some questionable players.

Therefore, surely it would make sense from Farhad Moshiri’s point of view to wait until the transfer market to let Benitez put more of a stamp on this squad, and maybe, more importantly, wait until their star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back fit as he’s only played three matches all season.

That should give a truer sense of whether Benitez is worthy of staying put at Goodison Park.
