Steven Gerrard has made a huge impact in his short time at Aston Villa, with performances improving since his arrival, winning four of his seven games, with losses only coming against the Premier League’s top three.

With January fast approaching, the new Villa boss will be looking at bringing in players he wants at the club to help put his stamp on things. Former Gerrard player Glen Kamara has been tipped to follow his old manager to Villa Park.

Kamara spent just over three seasons under Gerrard’s wing at Rangers where he was a regular, during which time, he starred for Finland at the European Championship.

Talking on the Villa Filler podcast, Dan Morgan gave his thoughts on the rumours linking him to a Premier League switch, saying: “At 26, it almost feels like he’s beginning to enter what could be the prime years of him as a player.

“I’m sure he’d love to link back up with his manager which I think is a big thing as well.

“As transfers go, I would say it’s probably one of the safest transfers we could make in January considering the fact we’ve lost Marv [Nakamba] to injury.”

TIF Thoughts on Kamara to Villa…

All round, the transfer makes sense, as Rangers will likely receive a nice fee, Kamara can make a step up to a higher level of competition and Gerrard will get a player he knows he can trust and help him put his stamp on the side.

Which Royal follows the Villa?

The Finnish international has been key to Rangers’ title charge this season, featuring in all but two league games so far. In those 18 games played, he has a goal and assist, proving he can be an outlet from midfield if required.

It’s not the first time he’s been linked to Villa, with Dean Smith looking to make a move previously for the former Arsenal man, so perhaps it won’t be too surprising if he comes down to the Midlands in the coming weeks.
