Arsenal could be in the market for a striker in January/the summer as their woes up top continue. With numbers up top potentially going to drop, they’ve been linked with Manchester United’s starboy Mason Greenwood (via El Nacional).

It’s safe to say it hasn’t been a good time of late for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, being frozen out of the squad and being stripped of captaincy after disciplinary breaches left Mikel Arteta with no choice.

Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is up at the end of this season, with a new deal far from confirmed for the Frenchman.

Is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still Arsenal’s best striker?

Cossyz Arsenal podcast had the following to say about the rumours: “I don’t see how Arsenal will get Mason Greenwood, it is crazy, it is absolutely crazy. What I’m going to say about this one is, maybe the agent, maybe the camp of Mason Greenwood are trying there to say look, our player is good.”

“We need a new contract there and we’re going to use Arsenal as a smokescreen. So what they’re trying to do there is they’re trying to use us, they’re trying to use Arsenal Football Club as a smokescreen, that is one of the things I really do not like… I know it is an absolute joke.”

TIF thoughts on Greenwood to Arsenal…

I think there’s little doubt that Mason Greenwood would be a huge coup for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, snatching a player of such quality from your rivals is always a major statement. We only need to look back to Robin van Persie ditching Arsenal for Old Trafford to see the impact it can have.

Greenwood is only 20 years old and already has 77 Premier League games under his belt, showing his class scoring 21 times in those games.

In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

As mentioned on the podcast, this deal seems highly unlikely to happen, if Aubameyang and Lacazette do move on, then attacking reinforcements are bound to happen at the Emirates.
