Chris Lepkowski has been speaking on The Liquidator podcast about how some people at West Brom are trying to undermine Valerien Ismael.

West Brom are now unbeaten in their previous four games and that has seen them close the gap on both Bournemouth and Fulham in the automatic promotion spots, with the Baggies now just three points behind second place.

Will West Brom go up via the play-offs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Despite Ismael managing to keep West Brom within touching distance of the two frontrunners while both Fulham and Bournemouth spent more money than the Baggies over the summer, that does not appear to be enough for some people within the club.

Lepkowski has been speaking about how certain individuals within West Brom are attempting to undermine Ismael.

“I think it’s really fair that as media, or supporters or whoever you are, that you’re able to feel comfortable being critical of the bad performances, whilst being complimentary of the better ones.

“Ismael has come through a really good two weeks, because I feel there’s an undercurrent of certain individuals, people who are trying to undermine him, who are perhaps not fully on board with what he wants to do – I think they know who they are.”

TIF Thoughts on Ismael at West Brom…

It may be understandable if some of the players and fans aren’t big fans of Ismael as he insists on playing vertical football, which is quite possibly the most polar opposite to possession-based football when you compare the difference between the amount of short and long passes this season, so this may not suit some players. However, if he gets results and gets them out of the Championship this way, you’d imagine there will be no complaints.

If it’s true what Lepkowski is claiming that people within the club are undermining Ismael, then those players or members of staff surely can’t have a long-term future at The Hawthorns if they want to create a winning culture at the club.
