A number of Sheffield United fans were left angered after hearing that their fixture against Queens Park Rangers will be postponed due to an outbreak of virus cases in their opponents’ camp.

The club’s official Twitter page went online to state that the upcoming match that was set to take place at Bramall Lane tonight had now been suspended.

It was explained that QPR told the EFL they were unable to compete in the fixture due to a large amount of positive cases in their squad.

Will Sheffield United get promoted this season?

Upon hearing the news, it seems as if the United fans had little sympathy for the west London club and were not happy to see their match postponed.

Here’s what these Sheffield United said…

“Booooooo.”

“Absolutely ridiculous. I’m sorry but they have a 25 man squad, along with an U23’s and U18’s. We should be given the points but we all know nothing will happen and we will play the fixture after Way into the new year with 2 days rest in between.”
“Ironic when their manager has been moaning about injuries.”
“Today gets worse…”
“What a coincidence when 4 of their best players are out injured.”
“What a joke.”

Judging from these comments, the Blades faithful must have been pretty confident going into the fixture. No doubt, they will see QPR as promotion challengers, but as things stand, United are a little way off the pace.

Indeed, they languish down in 13th place on 29 points, while their would-be opponents are up in 5th on 35 points. This game would have been a great chance for Sheffield United to pull themselves a little closer to the leading pack – which perhaps explains the fans’ frustrations.

As of yet, there has been no new date listed for the fixture to be played.
