Lots of Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter as fresh claims emerge on the Sports Direct signs hanging around St. James’ Park.

The Tyneside stadium was previously renamed as the Sports Direct Arena under the ownership of the businessman, Mike Ashley, as he advertised his own business around the ground too.

However, Ashley’s 14-year tenure of the club came to an end last month and part-owner Amanda Stavely has been sharing her thoughts on the removal of the Sports Direct advertising.

“The Sports Direct signs I’m looking forward to coming down. It’s a slight frustration when I go into the stadium and I try and take a picture which doesn’t have Sports Direct in it,” said Staveley.

Toon fans flocked to Twitter as the quotes from the Daily Mail’s article were relayed and it is apparent they are just as eager as Staveley to see the signage removed.

What did these fans have to say?

“YES! AMANDA GETS IT!”

“This is the best news ever!”
“Possibly my favourite tweet of the year”
“Things you love to see”
“Music to my ears.”
“Probably the best thing I’ve ever read. Ever”

Newcastle have other matters to worry about as their start to the 2021/22 campaign leaving a lot to be desired with no wins and just five points on the Premier League board.

However, with the new owners and Eddie Howe not in the dugout, it is apparent these fans see some light at the end of the tunnel and the mood has been lifted by Staveley’s comments on the advertising signage.
