A lot of Sunderland fans have flocked to Twitter to share their frustrations as Lee Johnson provided a big injury update on Friday.

Ahead of their League One trip to Cambridge United on Saturday, Johnson confirmed midfielder Aiden McGeady would be sidelined for 8-12 weeks with a knee injury picked up on Tuesday against Shrewsbury Town.

The Irishman only lasted 16 minutes on Tuesday night as Johnson’s play-off hopes were dealt a blow against the Shrews, who held the Black Cats to a 1-1 draw despite being reduced to 10 men.

And Sunderland fans flocked to Twitter as the club announced the injury setback as they go into Saturday’s game with just a one-point gap on seventh spot Oxford United.

What did these Sunderland fans have to say?

“league one for another year”

“This club is cursed like. We were knackered the minute we decided to call ourselves The Black Cats”
“Promotion over”
“my season ticket is in the wear”
“Disaster”
“Players getting injured left right and John Mensah”
“Get well soon geeds your going to be a BIG miss.”

The Irishman has made a steady start to the campaign for the Black Cats with three goals and four assists in his 14 league appearances but has not completed a 90-minute game since October (via Transfermarkt).

With a lot still to play for in League One and a huge Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal coming up, it is apparent these fans are worried about missing the 92-cap Irishman.
