Former Sheffield Wednesday player Carlton Palmer believes that Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has undoubtedly got ability.
The 29-year-old became a free-agent after being released by Middlesbrough at the end of last season, where he scored one goal and registered one assist in nine Championship fixtures for Boro.

Now looking for a new a club, the Star have reported that the winger is training with Sheffield Wednesday and former Owls player Carlton Palmer believes that he has got ability.
“Well obviously he’s coming in on a free as he was released from Middlesbrough last season. He’s undoubtedly got ability that is for sure, so you never know.
“Listen, it’s about getting out of this league, he’s experienced, and it might just be something that Darren will be able to take in, you know, there’s no fee involved,” Palmer told This is Futbol.
Mendez-Laing has previous experience of playing in League One, as he has featured in 157 matches in the third tier of English football where he has scored 22 goals and provided a further 22 assists for the likes of Peterborough United, Sheffield United, Shrewsbury Town and Portsmouth.
Now training with the Owls, manager Darren Moore was quoted as saying by the Star: “I feel that with this calibre of player, it would be silly for us not to look at him if he’s available. He asked for the opportunity to come in and I saw no reason why not..”
The Owls have the League One play-off spots within their sights, as they are currently eighth in the table on 25 points which is just two points outside of the final place which is currently occupied by Oxford United.
