Celtic secured a professional 4-2 victory over Dundee, thanks to a brace each for Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Despite never looking in any real danger throughout the match, there’s plenty for Ange Postecoglou to consider, with his side looking far from convincing at the back. Celtic fans will just be thankful they’re electric going forward and can outscore their opponents.

Christopher Jullien and Carl Starfelt were once again unavailable with long term injuries, leading to a defensive partnership between Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh. The latter had a day to forget, drawing criticism from supporters on Twitter for his sub-par display.

Celtic fans share their thoughts on Stephen Welsh

“How were we conned into thinking Stephen Welsh is good.” @MG67_

“Stephen Welsh has a 50p for a head Jesus Christ.” @David

“We are now seeing the limitations of Stephen Welsh. He is a decent prospect but Starfelt is by far the better option.” @trebletrebleye1

“Stephen Welsh is way too rash all the time!!” @deane_colm

“Sorry but Stephen Welsh is absolutely honking and should be nowhere near a starting place for Celtic.” @Willcarson_IIII

“Shocking defending from Stephen Welsh.” @The3rdFrame

“Stephen Welsh having a nightmare today” @GlasgowFIFA_

While managing to just about keep within touching distance of league leaders Rangers, Postecoglou will hope Jullien and Starfelt are back available as soon as possible, any more slip ups from here and they could see themselves start to fall back from Rangers.

It’s clear that if Celtic are going to stop Rangers this season, not only will their attack need to keep up this ridiculous form, but they’ll have to sure up at the back. If they keep leaking goals, slip ups will come and potentially hand the title to fierce rivals Rangers, something all Celtic fans will be dreading.
