Celtic battled past Aberdeen at home to secure a much needed three points.

Goals for Jota and Callum McGregor either side of a Lewis Ferguson penalty were enough for Ange Postecoglou and his side to take all the spoils.

The win was much needed to try and keep pace with arch rivals Rangers who earlier brushed Livingston aside three goals to one. Celtic remain just four points off top spot, with plenty of time left to try and catch the Gers.

Despite winning, the fans weren’t totally happy. Liel Abada received plenty of criticism from the supporters. He was the man to give the penalty away which allowed Aberdeen back into the game.

What did the Celtic fans say?

“Stupid challenge, looks a pen to me.” @PMartin1888

“Still not convinced with Abada.” @MG18791988

“Abada, facepalm.” @DownturnThe

“I like Abada overall but lately he’s been off the boil, surely Forrest starts back at RM after this game.” @KevMurrayOf

“I miss the Abada from last month.” @lennon_mullen

“What’s happened to the young lad? Seems to be playing terribly recently.” @hesto_presto

“I’d get James Forrest on now. Abada isn’t influencing this game in Aberdeen half. Young guy with plenty promise but we can’t have a passenger at this stage” @BlackrockRd

“I’ll need to watch the game back again, I thought McCarthy was poor and slowed us down big time. Abada was hopeless. Kyogo giving his all, but startin to look a bit jaded.” @CodgeyBhoy

“Abada bringing nothing again and Clancy continuing to prove he’s the worst ref in Scotland” @_dylandocherty7

Clearly the Celtic fans are in agreement that Abada hasn’t been up to scratch of late, and James Forrest’s return to full fitness is a real blessing.

He scored the only goal of the game against St Johnstone last week to book Celtic’s place in the Scottish League Cup final. He did this just minutes after coming on, showing how much of an impact he can have on this Celtic side.

With a crunch game with Hearts coming up on Thursday, Postecoglou has plenty to ponder with his team selection.
