A number of Celtic fans have expressed their pride after seeing footage of the wonderful tribute to club legend Bertie Auld.

Over the weekend, a single goal by James Forrest was enough to seal the Bhoys’ place in the final of the League Cup. Indeed, his second-half strike settled a well-fought 1-0 win over holders St. Johnstone.

This was the first time Celtic had played since Lisbon Lion Auld had sadly passed away and the club’s supporters were keen to pay homage to the brilliant footballer.

After 67 minutes – as a reference to the European Cup he won that year – the home support cheered, sang and let off flares, displaying a huge tifo of the icon.

The moment was shared online by the Premier Sports Twitter page and it soon had fans commenting on the touching moment.

Here’s what these Celtic fans said…

“Wee Bertie. This is absolutely class!!”

“Unbelievable tribute.”
“Fans like no other.”

It’s clear to see just how much the supporters enjoyed this display and just how much Auld meant to the club’s faithful.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

The midfielder scored 85 goals in 283 appearances in two different spells with the Bhoys. Beyond that impressive individual record, he also won numerous trophies. These included five league titles, four League Cups, three Scottish Cups and the aforementioned European Cup.

This was a spectacular tribute worthy of a spectacular player.
