West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that he expects the Hammers to sign Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window.

When he signed on a short-term loan deal last January, the Manchester United man made a huge impact in east London. Indeed, Lingard scored nine goals and claimed five assists before returning to Manchester over the summer.

Unfortunately for the 28-year-old, he has not been offered much of a chance to continue his form with the Red Devils, making zero league starts this season.

Taking this into account, ExWHUemployee explained on The West Ham Way podcast that he thinks there are clear signs a move could be on the cards this winter.

He said: “I also believe that they’ll try and make a move for Jesse Lingard again as well, because as we all know, he hasn’t got his chance at Manchester United.

“His contract is up in the summer, he still seems to be quiet – like sort of not really valued at the club. And I think he would be interested to move back.

“His brother, who also acts as his agent, has made it very clear Jesse misses his time here. Also, Jesse Lingard keeps speaking positively about the club, so I feel a move would be for him.

“The only slight concern is that apparently, Newcastle have him on their radar as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Lingard and West Ham…

Considering the Hammers’ recent form, it’s easy to see why they would be a tempting destination for a lot of footballers across the globe at the moment.

Indeed, the recent 4-1 thrashing away at Aston Villa sees the east London side occupy a Champions League place in the Premier League table.

Of course, Lingard will have more reason than most to desire a move to West Ham, though. In an interview with the Evening Standard, he described his time at the club as ‘brilliant’ and ‘much-needed’. Although, he also said he wants to ‘play week in week out’.

Considering he hasn’t got that chance with Man United, he could well seek out an exit this January, just as ExWHUemployee suggests.
