West Ham will maintain their top-four bid if they reinforce in January, says former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The Hammers currently sit in third, leapfrogging Liverpool after beating Jurgen Klopp’s side 3-2 at the London Stadium just before the international break.

There is no doubt West Ham will be pleased with how their first 11 games of the Premier League campaign have gone, with the east London club picking up from where they left off last season.

They finished in sixth that season and Palmer believes a Champions League spot is not out of their reach this term if they can manage to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window.

“Have they got that strength in depth, as the season drags into the winter months and out and into late April or May, to still be in and around there?” the ex-Leeds United and Southampton player said to TIF.

“I think they’re going to be there. From what I’m hearing, the owners are looking to invest and if they can invest and bring in two or three more players to the squad, then I don’t see why not.”

Following their victory against Liverpool, the Hammers have some more tricky fixtures coming up, as they take on Manchester City at the end of the month before London derbies against Chelsea and Arsenal in December.

With the form that they are currently in, though, David Moyes’ men will not be scared of anyone.
