A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight at the latest claim to emerge from inside Hotspur Way.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte is looking at Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele as two players he is looking to transform the mentality of.

Will Spurs win a trophy this season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, the Italian football insider said: “Antonio Conte’s mission to start this new era is to give value to the players that he has in the team – Ndombele, Dele Alli and many others to see if these players are available for his project.”

Alli has struggled over recent seasons to nail down consistent game time at Spurs, with just 15 appearances in the Premier League last season (via Transfermarkt).

And the claim saw Spurs fans flock to Twitter to voice their delight at the notion of Dele potentially turning around his recent form which has seen him score just twice in 25 league games.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“DELE REDEMPTION SEASON BABY”

“Imagine we got them back to there best”
“Icl if he can get them up and running it might be over for the rest if the league”
“YESS DELE IS BACK”
“He will unlock untold riches.”
“these two guy have the potential to be one of the best duo in the league IF he can change their mentality / attitude etc”

Ndombele has also struggled to find his spot in the Spurs starting XI this season, with 411 minutes to his name across seven appearances in the Premier League, having been left out of the opening four games (via Transfermarkt).

These Spurs fans seem excited by the prospect of Romano’s comments, and they may also be excited by the fact Conte has had over one week with the midfield duo at Hotspur Way with a proportion of the squad away on international duty.

Some of the names being touted around as Spurs transfers are very exciting but I’m pessimistic that Conte won’t get that kind of investment backing. If Spurs were to sign, Vlahovic, De Ligt, Kessie and Rudiger I really do think we may be able to challenge for something next season, it’s too late to bring them in in January and expect them to do it this season. Looking forward to seeing how much Levy does back Conte, but I’m not holding my breath, we’ve been here before and ended up disappointed.
