TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan has given his view on Dele Alli and his future at the club following the appointment of Antonio Conte.

One of the big criticisms that have been put on Alli over the years is his attitude – particularly when it comes to training, as was demonstrated during the All Or Nothing Amazon Prime Documentary, with former boss Jose Mourinho making his feelings on him very clear.

And speaking about Alli during a Q&A on TalkSport, Jordan felt that given the nature of the newly appointed Conte and his past record when it comes to treating players, especially on the training ground, there might be something of a clash of personalities between the two that might end in the 25-year-old moving out of the club:

“I think there will inevitably be clashes at Tottenham. Conte is coming in with a completely different attitude than the people that have been there before. It won’t be too dissimilar to Mourinho’s, because there’ll be certain players, like Dele Alli, that will have their minds concentrated quick and fast or they’ll be on the way out.

“You look at the reality of what Chelsea players faced and some of the complaints about how they were doing double sessions, how they were drilled and drilled and drilled into the styles of play.

“And I expect the majority of Tottenham players to get on board, with a few high-profile casualties – and I suspect one of them may just be Dele Alli.”

Will Dele Alli still be at Spurs after the January transfer market?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Based on the evidence presented on Alli, as well as Conte whilst he was at Chelsea, you can certainly see where Jordan is coming from with his assessment of the situation, and it will be interesting to see just how big of an effect having someone as tough and demanding like the Italian will have on the Spurs midfielder.

It can go one of two ways. Either Alli will find it tough to deal with, Conte will get annoyed with him and he might well find himself as a casualty of the regime in the upcoming January transfer window or at the end of the season; alternatively, this could be the perfect kick that Alli needs to get his career back on track.

It’s obvious that there is some talent there with Alli, as he demonstrated with his record under Mauricio Pochettino, but that has just fallen away in recent years, and perhaps Conte is the man to get something out of him. But if not, then it may very well be inevitable that Alli will be put on the scrapheap.
