Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Charlie Eccleshare has been speaking on the latest episode of The View From The Lane podcast to discuss the latest news at the north London club.

The Lilywhites secured their first win in the Premier League of the Antonio Conte era at the weekend against Leeds United after a second-half turnaround.

Conte had already secured three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but that came against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.

However, it was something before the game which caught the attention of many, with groundsmen videoed picking blades of grass from the sideline by hand.

And speaking on the matter, Eccleshare had the following to say on the attention to detail introduced to the north London club by the arrival of the Italian manager.

“Well, I think it’s all part of the Conte micromanage-y attention to detail that, you know, we’re told is a staple of how he operates.

“From what I’ve been told, it really, really wouldn’t surprise me [if it was part of Conte’s instructions]. Like, from his previous jobs, it sounds like he is so on top of the details, so obsessed with all of these tiny things.”

TIF Thoughts on Conte’s start at Spurs…

The game against Vitesse was full of ups and downs, with Spurs taking an early lead to then almost blow it by conceding two quick goals before the half-time break.

And the next outing saw Spurs fail to record a shot on target in their away trip to Goodison Park against Everton as they took a point away from Merseyside.

However, there was room for optimism in the game at the weekend against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, despite finding themselves behind at the break.

The players walked down the tunnel at the interval to a chorus of boos, but they came out in the second half looking like a different side as they turned the deficit around to seal the points.

So it looks like Conte has a huge influence over this Spurs team, it would not be surprising if the ground preparation was all part of the Italian’s masterplan.
