Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans flooded to Twitter during their Europa Conference League game against NS Mura on Thursday evening to share their frustrations with Matt Doherty.

The Lilywhites went into the game in second spot of Group G with their Slovenian hosts sat rock-bottom without a single point to their name.

However, Antonio Conte’s side could not have gotten off to a worse start as the hosts took an early lead, and Spurs were then reduced to 10 men as Ryan Sessegnon picked up two yellow cards.

29-year-old Matt Doherty only played 55 minutes in the game, which offered the Irishman his first start under the new manager, and Spurs fans flocked to Twitter to voice their anger at the defender.

What did these Spurs fans have to say about Matt Doherty?

“For doherty it isn’t even about what system he’s in. He genuinely cannot pass. Offers nothing”

“Doherty is terrible”
“Dele and Doherty move like they’re running in mud.”
“Doherty is not a premier league level player and it’s not even close.”
“Doherty is honestly not eben championship level”
“Matt Doherty is our worst signing ever.”

Doherty’s only other minutes in Conte’s early stages of his Spurs tenure came away to Everton, with a 19-minute cameo against Rafael Benitez’s side.

And it is apparent these fans have had their patience tested with the Irishman – capped 25 times for his country – who is still yet to get his Tottenham career off the ground, with just four assists throughout his time in a Spurs shirt.

We’ve had so many of them, wasted money by Daniel Levy. If he signed quality first time round, it would have saved him money, one we wouldn’t need to replace them as often and two, we might have made the Champions League with a better squad. Levys going to need to spend big in January, no excuses.
