Many Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter after links emerged suggesting Newcastle United are interesting in signing Harry Winks.

According to The Daily Mail, Winks is a prime target for Eddie Howe’s side in the January transfer window, with the former Bournemouth boss desperate to fix the lack of creativity and control in midfield.

The 25-year-old was a summer target for Newcastle but the Tyneside club struggled to shift players out to make room in their 25-man Premier League squad.

After hearing about the player once compared to Spanish midfield legend Xavi by former manager Mauricio Pochettino potential departure, many Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinion:

What did these Spurs fans make of the transfer link?

“Creativity and control monster btw, would keep Newcastle up IMHO”

@king26ledley

“Nahh go away Newcastle. Your not taking our man”

“For you Newcastle, a bargain price of £60m, only available once!”
“On my knees”

@lxstllosty

“Shhhh..don’t tell him!”

@dieseldalziel

“Please take 5 mil and bin him i cant stand it watching him play for us i dislike him more than the likes of sissoko lamela and aurier who i wanted to be sold as well”

“Lack of creativity………..should we tell them?”

@Clarkyinjury

Newcastle are desperately  lacking a controlling, creative influence in their engine room and although the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden will be given a chance under Eddie Howe, the position is a priority for their recruitment plans, with Winks having the potential to be an incredibly astute signing for Howe’s side.
