Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been drawn to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest claim to emerge on the future of Steven Bergwijn.

According to De Telegraaf reporter Valentijn Driessen (via Football Oranje), Eredivisie club Ajax will look to sign Bergwijn from Spurs on loan in January if their winger David Neres leaves the club in the transfer window.

This claim comes following a summer of speculation linking the Dutchman with a potential return to his native land, with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag sharing his admiration for the 24-year-old.

And the claims coming out of the Netherlands saw Spurs fans flock to Twitter as they voiced their approval of Ajax’s interest in taking Bergwijn off their hands.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“I like him but he’s not good enough just sell him fully”

“Instant fire sale to finance purchase of Vlahovic please!!!”
“We should be hitting them up for a straight swap”
“I love Stevie B but he’s not been useful this season”
“SUUUUUUUUUUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII”
“I’ll drive him there”
“Make it happen!”

Bergwijn’s time at Spurs has been full of ups and downs, with his game time recently being hindered by injury. However, he has only found the back of the net four times since arriving.

The Dutchman has only 474 minutes of football for Spurs this season and is yet to come up with a goal and has just the one assist so it is far from surprising that these fans are not concerned about losing the winger (via Transfermarkt).

Therefore, it is no surprise these fans are hoping for an exit somewhere down the line, with some calling for an eventual exit in order to create funds for a bid for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic – who has been heavily linked with Spurs in the recent past.
