Ahead of the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Juventus ace Matthijs de Ligt as Antonio Conte aims to strengthen his defence.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have set their sights on signing the Dutch defensive star in January from Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

Consiering Fabio Paratici’s connections to the Serie A and Juventus in particular, it is not too surprising to see that Paratici has said to Spurs chiefs that he believes a deal can be done for the defender.

Furthermore, the report adds that the priority of Paratici and Conte is to sign at least one top-class centre-back in January to compete with the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon for a starting berth within Conte’s first choice XI.
