Many Spurs fans have reacted have taken to Twitter after links emerged of the Lilywhites reportedly plotting moves to sign Serie A defensive stars Stefan de Vrij and Matthijs de Ligt in January.

The Serie A duo have been identified by Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici as top targets ahead of the January transfer window as the Italian seeks to add defensive reinforcements.

Considering Paratici’s connections to the Serie A and Juventus in particular, it is not too surprising to see that Paratici has said to Spurs chiefs that he believes a deal for De Ligt, 22, could be completed can be done for the defender.

Additionally, De Vrij, 29, played an integral role as the Nerazzurri claimed their first Serie A title win in a decade under Conte last term, featuring 88 times in the Italian’s favoured 3-5-2 formation in Conte’s two seasons in charge at the club.

Spurs fans have subsequently taken to Twitter to react to the claims they are interested in for the two Serie A defensive stars:

What did these fans have to say?

“Imagine”
“Pay up. Time to revamp the defence. Back 3 with these two and Romero is just beautiful”
“100m for both is a lot of course but these two get us CL football”
“Levy with the purse strings”
“Knowing how this club operates Dier+Sanchez extensions incoming. This is how I feel rooting for Spurs. Every day. Levy please let Fabio and Conte work. I’m on my knees begging man”
“Make it happen Levy”

The pair of Conte and Paratici appear to be determined to sign at least one elite centre-back in January with the Italian manager being unimpressed with the centre-backs he has inherited since he took over as manager, while star defender Cristian Romero has been ruled out of action for the Lilywhites with what Conte described as ‘serious’ injury.
