Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Last Word On Spurs’ YouTube channel to discuss all things relating to Tottenham Hotspur.

One of the main talking points was the arrival of Antonio Conte earlier in the week following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning.

The Italian manager was out of work for a number of months following his departure from Inter, however, Romano previously stated Tottenham’s director of football, Fabio Paratici, persuaded the 52-year-old to join the club.

Conte is renowned for the number of major honours he has won during his time as a manager with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, which begs the question as to what he has been promised by a club that has not won a major trophy in 13 years.

Speaking on what Spurs may have promised the Italian to convince him Spurs was the right move for him, Romano had the following to say.

“Tottenham changed his mind, Paratici changed his mind. And it’s really difficult to change Conte’s mind. I think this is the best news for Tottenham fans.

“That if Antonio said yes, it’s because behind the scenes, there is something really serious, because Conte, if he doesn’t have the feeling that he can do something important with the club, with the board, with the players, with the fans, with the whole club, Conte’s never accepting.”

TIF Thoughts on the future under Conte…

We are also very intrigued to see how the future transfer windows play out at Tottenham with Conte in charge, given he has got a history of spending considerably during his previous transfer windows.

Last summer, it was reported Tottenham were on the hunt to bring in two new centre-backs to transform their defence which proved leaky at times.

However, Spurs only signed one (Cristian Romero) and in Conte’s first game at Spurs, he played with a back three, so we are fascinated to see whether he will push in January to address their defence, and get to grips with the job in the long term.
