Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss all things Tottenham Hotspur.

The insider was speaking after Antonio Conte completed his first week at the helm of the north London club, with one win and a draw to his name across the Europa Conference League and the Premier League.

Will Conte lead Spurs to a top-four finish this season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Conte only had a matter of days to work with his players after being appointed last Tuesday given he had to wait on his work visa and then had two games in the space of four days.

The 52-year-old will now see a bunch of his players depart for the international break, however, it will allow him to work closely with players such as Dele Alli and Harry Winks who will remain at Hotspur Way over this period.

Although the Lilywhites were held to a goalless draw against Everton on the weekend, Romano was discussing the initial impression left by the Italian manager on the Spurs squad.

“I want to tell you some insights, that I’m told that players are super, super happy with the impact of Antonio Conte. And I’m super happy to say this, too, because of course, I’m Italian – but I am one of the biggest fans of Antonio Conte in the world.

“I think he’s really underrated. He’s one of the best managers in the world, the impact he has on the players – on the technical side, but also on the mental side. To have these players to be always angry on the pitch, to be always with the right mentality, win or die – this is [the] Antonio mentality.”

TIF Thoughts on Conte’s start to the season…

It is difficult to judge Conte’s start to life at Spurs after just one week with the club, however, there are some areas that clearly need addressing.

Although Spurs were able to keep a clean sheet on the weekend against Everton, there were issues at the other end of the pitch, with zero shots on target registered throughout the trip to Goodison Park.

Two players who may be able to help Tottenham’s creativity up top could be Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele, who both have previously played in the attacking-midfield role.

The Spurs pair will both be absent from their national sides, so we are interested to see if either of them will start against Leeds United having worked with Conte for almost two weeks over the international break.
