Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on the latest episode of the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast to discuss all things Spurs.

One of the main talking points was Tottenham’s first win under Antonio Conte in the Premier League against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

Will Kane still be at Spurs next season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Harry Kane returned from the international break in fine form with seven goals in two games for England and started for the Lilywhites against the Yorkshire side.

However, the 28-year-old has been in far from impressive form in the league, with just one goal in his 11 league appearances, including another blank on Sunday (via Transfermarkt).

It has been reported Conte was working on the players’ fitness levels over the international break, and discussing Kane’s current fitness status, Gold had the following to say:

“He will be a player who I think eventually – if not now – will adore the manager he’s working with, he will work him hard. But everything I’ve always heard from people around Harry Kane is that Harry Kane likes to be pushed, fitness-wise.

“It’s almost when he isn’t, that’s when maybe, I don’t know, [he] maybe falls into certain ways. He’s always been one of those guys that’s kind of looked after himself, but I think it’s very difficult to say that the Harry Kane we’ve seen in the last 12 months is as super-fit as he was, let’s say under Poch.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s season so far…

It has certainly been an underwhelming start to the 2021/22 campaign for the player who was rewarded with the Premier League Golden Boot last season after netting 23 goals.

The 28-year-old has shown signs of his usual self in the Europa Conference League and for Gareth Southgate’s England, however, his struggles continue in the league.

Although Kane has only added one to their tally, Spurs have netted just 11 goals all season in the league, which is the joint-second-lowest total, with Norwich City the only team to score fewer.

This could suggest there are deeper issues at Spurs with a lack of creativity and getting Kane into positions to add to his tally, so we are intrigued to see how he develops under Conte.
