Tottenham Hotspur reporter Alasdair Gold has been speaking about all things concerning the N17 club in the latest of his YouTube videos

One of the big talking points currently is the upcoming January transfer window with Antonio Conte now at the helm of the Lilywhites.

How many players do you think Spurs will sign in January?

Spurs have already been linked with a host of potential targets for the January window, with Dusan Vlahovic, Stefan de Vrij and Franck Kessie all names tipped to have had potential interest from Spurs.

Spurs made a number of moves over the summer, which saw them add Cristian Romero to their defence along with a number of other additions as a believed £60.21m was spent on incomings (via Transfermarkt).

However, speaking on the funds which may be available in the upcoming window for the Londoners, Gold had the following to say.

“I’m led to believe that he [Conte] is very aware of the situation at Tottenham. I don’t think there’s huge amounts of money to throw around in January at all. I think there maybe will have to be a sale or two to help facilitate that.

“Because yes, while Spurs are financially stable compared to where they were, they’re still getting back to that ground in terms of getting all the events on, bringing in the money. All these events that people don’t like, they do actually bring in money to the club to be able to put into the football club.”

TIF Thoughts on the January window for Spurs…

This will not be the news which many Spurs fans will have wanted to hear in the lead-up to the January window given the links to names such as Vlahovic and De Vrij.

However, we think this may also benefit Spurs in January if they do find themselves in a position where they need to generate funds in order to purchase in the window.

Yes, it would be great for Spurs to just have the money sat there ready to send for a player like Vlahovic, but needing to sell before they buy could see some of the out-of-favour players such as Dele Alli or Harry Winks moved on.

Not only would this generate some funds for Spurs to then put into potential signings, but it would also see their squad reduced of any players not getting minutes under Conte.
