Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video about Fabio Paratici’s role at the north London club.

Spurs have seen a lot of change over the course of the last few months, with Antonio Conte arriving in an attempt to turn around their turbulent start to the campaign.

Has Paratici done a good job so far?

One of the new additions before the beginning of the season was Paratici as the new director of football in N17, and he has already seen two managers at the club and dealt with the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the club’s recent record with landing transfers which have then proven their worth, Gold discussed one of the major changes Paratici is looking to bring to the club.

“What I am led to believe is that Paratici, one of the things he came in as managing director of football, he was told, ‘look, just go through the whole football side of the club, and absolutely do what you want, essentially, to all the departments, overhaul them’.

“And that’s what he’s been doing since he’s come in, apparently. He’s been absolutely going through them all and looking at doing real appraisals of their entire department and working out what needs to be more efficient, what needs to be improved, what they’re doing wrong.”

TIF Thoughts on Paratici’s work so far…

This certainly sounds like a step in the right direction for Spurs. When looking back on their recruitment of English talent in particular from other clubs, we feel it has been pretty poor since the signing of Dele Alli.

Although Dele has struggled in recent seasons, we feel he marks the last example of Tottenham’s recruitment in English talent proving to be a success, and that signing came almost seven years ago.

On the whole, we feel Tottenham’s recruitment has been fairly poor and that can even be seen in their big-money signings, with Tanguy Ndombeletheir record signing – not exactly proving to be a success in N17.
