Ahead of the January transfer window, Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Fiorentina and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic, as newly appointed boss Antonio Conte looks add real attacking quality his squad.

Now, according to Sportmediaset, the Viola striker is Conte’s primary target, aiming to bring the Serbian striker to Tottenham in the next transfer window to bolster his attack.

While north London rivals Arsenal were being heavily linked with a move for the Serbian in recent weeks, the Lilywhites are simply not giving up in the pursuit on the Serbian as Conte begins to devise his list of transfer targets.

Although Spurs may have successfully kept hold of Harry Kane at the club despite heavy interest from Manchester City this summer, there are growing concerns the striker may have fulfilled his time in north London and might again request to leave when he has two years left on his current deal.

Will Antonio Conte convince Dusan Vlahovic to join Spurs?

The links to the north London club to the Fiorentina striker, who has previously been described by editor in chief at Forza Italian Football Conor Clancy as a ‘complete number nine’, has subsequently seen Spurs fans take to Twitter.

What did these Spurs fans make of the Vlahovic transfer update?

“I feel #thfc have to deal for Vlahovi? in January before other clubs come in. An extraordinary finisher who will go to the very, very top”

@HarryHotspurWHL

“If this doesn’t get done Conte will walk as it will be Levy‘s one and only chance”

@neverlayupshort

“Bag him and sell parry pane”

@xthfczach

“He’s the business this guy”

@DeanoCheesebur1

“Make this happen. Guy is quality!”

@coys219

“We have to spend a lot this January as the team is useless and Conte needs players to fit his style of play”

@benwise2017

The report highlights player would like to stay in Florence until the end of the season and then carefully evaluate the offers that will arrive, with Serie rivals Juventus also said to be interested in securing the Serbian’s signature. Vlahovic, though, won’t come cheap, with reports in the summer claiming a Viola wanted around £77m for their man.

However, considering his current contract expires next summer this means a smaller fee is more likely, although the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal will still likely need to pay a fee within the region of around £35m to secure the 21-year-old’s signature.

    Vlahovic is the first of a few signings that Levy has to make to turn this team into real contenders. He has the manager to do it, he now has to back Conte, there’s absolutely no point in signing Conte as manager and not backing him. The next two transfer windows are massive, Vlahovic in January is a must, we can’t go any longer with Harry Kane as our only recognised striker, If Vlahovic does sign and Harry leaves then we’ll need a second striker for sure. Another centre back preferably a left footed centre back, we haven’t had one since Jan left, that is ridiculous. A number 10 that can play just behind the strikers who has that killer pass we’ve missed since Eriksen left, we haven’t replaced him either. Personally I’d like to see a world class keeper sign too, Lloris has his day but is a liability at times too and Gollini isn’t good enough to take over. And if I was being really greedy a flying right wing back and a right winger. That should just about do it, all we need to do now is to convince Levy to back Conte to that degree. Easier said than done. Although it’s probably Levy’s last chance to save himself from the fans and to get himself back on side.
