Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts believes Antonio Conte could have up to £250m to spend on transfers.

Conte was appointed as Tottenham manager on Tuesday following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo and will surely want to strengthen his squad.

Tottenham face a battle trying to break into the top four and are a long way off the title, with the north London club finishing in seventh place last season.

Will Conte be backed?

To close that gap, Roberts is expecting Conte to enter the market and is confident Daniel Levy and the rest of the Tottenham board will back him with significant funds.

“They’re saying it’s 150 million at the moment, but I would think he’d get more than that because I would think five or six players will be sold,” the Spurs legend said to TIF.

“If that money comes in, he gets that as well I would think. I would expect him to have anything from £150m to £250m with the sale of the players.”

Understandably, the former Inter Milan and Juventus manager could turn to Serie A for new signings.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Franck Kessie are both on Conte’s shopping list as he looks to stamp his mark on this Spurs squad.
