Tottenham players need to take some of the blame for the dismissals of Nuno Espirito Santo and other previous managers, says club legend Graham Roberts.

Nuno was the latest Spurs manager to be sacked, following both Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino, when he was given the boot at the start of the month.

Much has been said about the Portuguese coach’s sacking, with some, including former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, feeling that his style of football made it a doomed marriage.

Does Nuno deserve all of the blame?

Roberts, though, is refusing to put all of the blame on Nuno and thinks the club’s players also need to be held to account.

“Hopefully we’ve got the right manager now and he will sort the club out because there are problems there,” the former Tottenham defender said to TIF. “You can’t have four managers in eight months and the managers take all the blame all the time.

“The players have to take some of this blame. And if you’re not up to it, on your bike – go and find another club.”

Indeed, it is probably unfair to put all of the blame on the manager, but something did have to change at Tottenham.

The north London club have looked really off it this season, already losing five times in the Premier League.
