Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts is confident Antonio Conte has been given assurances over spending by Daniel Levy and the rest of the Spurs board.

Conte was appointed as Tottenham manager earlier this month following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, who oversaw two consecutive defeats prior to his dismissal.

Based on those two consecutive defeats and the three consecutive losses they recorded in London derbies against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal back in September, it is clear that Spurs could do with some reinforcements.

Will Tottenham back Conte?

Yes

Yes

No

No

And, according to The Sun, they could be about to get just that, with Conte set to be handed a £150m transfer budget.

It is, of course, just speculation for now, but Roberts thinks Conte would have been given reassurances before he took the job.

“We’ve got one of the best coaches in the world now,” the Spurs legend said to TIF. “But if you don’t back him, where do you go? So I’m guessing he’s got assurances that they will spend money and hopefully he gets the players he wants and [Fabio] Paratici wants.”

If reports from Spain are to be believed, Conte could look to sign a very familiar face to improve this Tottenham side.

According to El Nacional, the Italian is interested in bringing Gareth Bale back to north London for a third spell at the club.
