Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer does not believe Tottenham’s reported £150m transfer budget is a lot of money.

According to The Sun, new Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will be given £150m to get the north London club going again.

Spurs have been disappointing so far this season, currently sitting ninth in the Premier League table. This comes after a very poor 2020/21 campaign, where they were just about able to scrape a European football place.

Is £150m enough for Conte?

It is evident that Conte has a lot of work to do, but Palmer has questioned whether £150m will be enough to help the Italian to get the job done.

“£150 million is not a lot of money as a war chest ,” the ex-Leeds United player said to TIF. “So we’ll have to see what he can do at Tottenham. I honestly believe Conte was hanging on for the Man United job.”

One player Tottenham have been linked with is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently reporting that the striker could cost up to €80m (£68m).

That would obviously take a large chunk out of Conte’s reported budget, so perhaps £150m will not be enough if the Italian is looking to bring in multiple high-calibre players.
