A number of Newcastle United fans have reacted after hearing details emerge of Eddie Howe’s first training session as manager.

Earlier this week, the Magpies announced that the former Bournemouth man would take charge of the club after signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2024.

Having now overseen his first day with the club, journalist Craig Hope provided fans with some snippets of behind-the-scenes information.

In a tweet, he explained that phrases such as ‘we train as we play’ were used a lot, as well as terms like ‘match sharp’, ‘no jogging’ and ‘if you think you’re maxed out, you’re not’. Hope also added that the coach later watched the Magpies’ Under-11s team train.

Fans were soon engaging with the tweet expressing their opinions on the team’s new boss.

What did these Newcastle fans say?

“This is how bad it was before, that news of the players actually training, in training, is newsworthy. Guess we’ll see how much these players are up for it and how many were looking for an easy ride.”
“Love him already.”
“Bruce would neverrrrr.”
“This gives me goosebumps mahn”
“I could cry”
“Are we in heaven??? We have a proper manager who knows what he is doing. Unbelivable after 2 years of degradation.”
“Kevin Keegan vibes. Swear just give the man time and he’ll get us where we want to be, something about him brings you in and trusts him.”
“This makes me so happy.”
“’…later watched club’s Under-11s train.’ Very clear to me that Howe has a long term vision for the club. This is something we saw with Rafa when he was with us.”

Judging from the comments, these Newcastle supporters are already well and truly behind Howe’s new training ground methods. Hopefully, for the club’s sake, the players will be too.
