Newcastle United’s utterly dismal Premier League campaign continued in the same fashion at the Emirates.

Eddie Howe, in the dugout for the first time, saw his side fall to a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal after a sorry performance on Saturday lunchtime.

The result leaves Newcastle still the only team in the Premier League yet to register a win this season, in fact, they’re the only team in any of England’s professional divisions yet to taste victory.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

Despite conceding twice, Newcastle fans were full of praise for Martin Dubravka as he spoke to the official Newcastle United media team after the defeat.

How did the Newcastle fans react?

“Good to have him back…” @Maverick4061

“Hopefully he’ll be captain on Tuesday night and then the permanent one for the remainder of the season.” @GeorgeKaplin2

“He was the best for us today.” @Lucky16538099

“Thank you for your performance.” @hrcrtrvl360

“Quality as usual.” @meaden_harley

“The only player who actually tried to win for us today.” @Marg_Anne

“I know he practically chucks a couple of balls in his own goal throughout the course of a season but I really do think Dubravka is an elite keeper.” @nixon80

It’s clear to see that the Toon Army are big supporters of Dubravka and will be glad to see him back in the side, especially with the situation becoming more and more critical for him and the rest of the team as each game passes.

Now three points adrift of second bottom Norwich City, Howe’s hopes of keeping Newcastle in the Premier League are getting slimmer by the day. They find themselves six points from safety, and while that doesn’t sound like a lot, for a team that is yet to win in 13 games, it definitely is.
