Newcastle United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential transfer swoop for Umar Sadiq in January.

According to reports in Spain (via The Sun), Newcastle could potentially show an interest in the Nigerian forward. He currently plays for Spanish outfit Almeria, where he has put up some impressive numbers (29 goals in 58 games) for the second-tier side as part of a career that has seen him put up 111 goals in 213 appearances.

Newcastle could certainly do with some firepower up front having only scored 12 goals in 11 games so far this season and without a win to their name, and they will certainly have the funds required when it comes to trying to fix that in the January transfer window, with one report suggesting that they could spend as much as £190m in the upcoming market.

However, when the news of their reported interest in Sadiq was relayed to the fans by The Chronicle and then posted on the publication’s Facebook page for them to react to, there didn’t seem to be too much enthusiasm, with some pointing to his poor record at Rangers as a reason why they wanted to the club to steer clear of him:

Perhaps his stint in Glasgow was just a blip when it came to his career, because his overall numbers would indicate that he knows where the goal is, so fans shouldn’t be too quick to write him off just yet and it will be interesting to see if the club decide to pursue him in January.
