A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest transfer claim to emerge ahead of the January window.

According to Football Insider, the Newcastle owners will not be looking to make permanent signings in January and will instead be looking to the loan market to help their relegation battle.

Are loan signings the best move for NUFC?

There have been claims over how much the Toon would have to spend in the summer, with £50m reported by certain outlets – though it seems that money will now not be needed.

However, Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the claim to emerge from Football Insider, with many in favour of the reported approach.

What did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“Well obviously we’re 5 points adrift. It would be ridiculous to commit to big wages in a relegation battle May as well sign loans with options providing we don’t get relegated”

“If this is true, which it isn’t, it would mean no more than 4 signings in January. ….and only 2 of those loans could be from PL Clubs. Telling you now, it’s nonsense. The Club has cash bids lined up for Tarkowski and Lingard, neither of which are available on loan.”
“Makes sense if true. Especially loan to buy for the Summer. Don’t want to be spending millions on players who then might not be suited to the Championship or we have to sell at a knockdown rate.”
“Why would we not like it? It’s sensible”
“A completely sensible and pragmatic approach. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Loans carry far lower risk for the club or the player.”
“Common sense if true, also shows that they won’t be held to ransom with inflated prices”
“Not a single fan thinks this is a bad idea.”

There are questions as to whether other Premier League clubs will actually deal with the Tyneside club in the coming windows, with a ‘transfer pact‘ reportedly against the Toon.

Regardless, it seems these Newcastle fans are not flustered by the claims to emerge, with many feeling this would be a sensible move, which may be down to their precarious position in the top flight.
